Thick claws scraped at the dirt, digging here and there before the large red wolf moved on.
To the locals, it was strange to see a Lycanroc of his nature in Dedrock Woods. The mountains and the plains were more suitable territories, farther from the walls of the citadel with expansive areas to roam and hunt. However, he was neither pack animal or civilized citizen, instead a crude hybrid that clung to feral instinct despite the teachings of his late master Freja. It was the only reason he was out and about so early in the morning, prowling in the forest and away from the crowded streets of Colbagne.
Well, it was not the only reason. In truth, he was bored. And hungry. Oh, so terribly hungry.
Part of him wanted to hunt; another wanted to dig for grubs. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he recalled someone saying how expensive meat was in the city. If he brought something back to sell, would he be praised? No... He would likely eat it all and only bring back a ruined carcass. It was the thought that counted, right? They could at least mount the head?
A sneeze shook him from his core as he reared away from a pungent flower. Rubbing at his nose, Rudolf stepped away from the foul flower and set his sights elsewhere. His ears perked at the snap of a twig, his body stilling as he listened for the source. Not even a moment passed before the Lycanroc turned on his heel and bounded up a nearby oak tree, hind claws scraping into the trunk as his front paws latched onto the limbs to hoist himself up with relative ease.
Perching on the strongest branch, red eyes gleamed as he peered down, waiting for the source to pass underneath. Cream lips curled back, revealing sharp teeth with a grin.

If he was going to be great someday he needed to know the area well. It wouldn't do well for one known as the best fighter in the lands to get lost after some major victory. Also Kyren was curious and getting use to this new body as much as the new land. His nose was incredibly sensitive and it painted a picture he could never have imagined as a human. Right now though a lot of things he could smell didn't register with what it belonged too. Kyren was taking his time in the woods, learning to differentiate the many smells in the woods. Thus it was he surely would of smelled Ruud, but the smell painted no picture in his mind. He was by far not the only scent of life out here and curiosity was more powerful than a sense of extreme wariness. Kyren figured as long as he didn't go to deep in the woods yet he would be pretty safe. The little poochy was also getting use to having a tail and the way it sometimes had a mind of its own to start waving a bit as he enjoyed himself. Someday he needed to learn to control that. Kyren moved in the direction of the Lycanroc unknowing the danger. He had heard something over here. It had been a scratching sound, though in a woods with tree's all about, and branches on the forest floor, or dry ground or rocks, that didn't do him very much good in pinpointing the source. Quite possibly to Ruud's frustration he stopped just just a few feet away from the tree, he was looking up in a nearby tree, narrowed eyes searchings its branches. Then taking a slow step forward, still just a short distance away as he looked up into another tree. How much patience did Ruud have? The young poochyena was coming closer, but at a slow pace and he might spot him if Ruud waited for that perfect moment. The way those ears were straining there was a chance he might hear Ruud as well if he made much noise. It could also be noticed the poochy had a bag strapped over a shoulder, a guild member badge also shone quite nice and new looking. Rudolf |

Why wasn't the prey-- erm, source--coming yet? Did they really have to take their sweet time? His nose scrunched with annoyance. Red eyes narrowed, still holding their gaze at the grass and roots below. A brief consideration of whether they went the other way passed him by, but his ears knew otherwise. They were still coming forward, just... slowly...
As impulsive and reckless as he could be, Rudolf had been trained to resist such urges when it came to hunting or his orders. While the latter did not apply, the former did. So long as his stomach did not betray him by gurgling to reveal his presence (thankfully, it was silent), he could sit in a single spot for hours on end until his prey arrived.
He just... had to stick himself in a tree. Ugh, his muscles were going to be so sore from holding this pose. Persistent as ever, he refused to move even an inch, only shifting ever so slightly to keep his grip. He refused to move until the oncoming Pokemon was in sight.

So it was then that the poochy did indeed come into view. His nose and ears working diligently to work at finding the source of the scent. It seemed to stand out from the other scents, stronger but still no name or picture to put to it. Of course there were other scents of pokemon but they weren't as recent as this one. This one was close. Kyren still hadn't imagined it was a pokemon waiting to attack him. No, even if it turned out to be dangerous it would be visible first and time to react. After all he was confident whatever came after him he would spot first. He would need to start fighting a lot at some point. He needed to get stronger and to intimidate others. So it was along those lines of thoughts that as he was looking up that he saw a shape leaving the tree. His body was moving before his mind had time to catch up. The majority of him escaped the brunt of being hit, but his back legs slipped out sideways as the creature collided along the edge of his rump throwing him off balance. "No..." fear and frustration were laced in the single word. His heart had never beat so fast, nor mind been so clouded. Instinct was what his body was running on. The heart beat it would take to get up was the time for the unknown creature to also act. So even as Kyren's back legs got up his weight was shifting to turn and bite at whatever part of the monster he could get. It was bigger than him, if he turned his back and ran that would probably be the end of it. So it was not pride that had him try to retaliate, simple survival. Rudolf |

Red eyes gleamed, glowing with mirth as his prey managed to just barely escape him. The more they run, the more he could chase. Yet, this one did not run. It whipped around, small but sharp teeth aiming to sink into what it could. Cream lips pulled back, curling with a toothy grin. He blocked the bite with one of his front paws, not caring that he was letting his toes be chewed on. The thick black claws would ensure the Poochyena didn't do too much damage.
The Lycanroc leaned forward on the other front paw, his black nose twitching as he breathed in the other Pokemon's scent. The backpack was more than enough to tell him this was no creature of the forest. The scent that lingered on gray fur, however... "Guild..." The single word was low in his throat, elongated with a rumbling growl. His grin grew, providing a sheer contrast to the sound in his throat.
