[attr="class","graves"] [attr="class","image"] [attr="class","lyrics"]Never be ashamed, my love, all hearts are open graves [attr="class","postcontent"] Samuel let out a low growl; mist billowing from his maw. A little earlier, there was another Pokemon here that shivered in both cold and fright as the Alolan Ninetales slammed his paws on the table; his tails raised in warning. While the henchman--a Patrat, to be precise--did not fail his task, he was a bringer of bad news...
He had been sloppy, and left quite a bit of a trail in his wake before finally able to find reprieve in the sewers.
"This was a very. Simple. Task. All you had to do was scout for some information. That's it! How in Giratina did you mess up so fucking badly that you got the Royal Guard on your heels?!" the normal type squealed miserably, using his little paws to shield his face, as if that was really going to be any help. Samuel lightly shook his head and sat back down, rubbing his temples. "If it was a guild member, this might've been..." he exhaled sharply. "Fine! Fine. At the very least the observation report is here, and I appreciate your honesty." but before the Patrat could even feel a slight bit safer, the Alolan Ninetales suddenly fired a small Ice Beam at the Pokemon's tail, freezing it solid. The normal type screamed once more from the pain and sheer cold. "Mess up again, however, and I will not hesitate to ice you. Now," he would take in another heaved breath before attempting to return to something of a more neutral tone. "you may go."
The Patrat nodded frantically before scurrying off; the frozen tail clinking on the floor before there was a brief moment of silence. Samuel grumbled before he took a sip of his cold tea. Who was the next one? A finished contract? Another report? The earlier annoyance made him lose his train of thought. Arceus, he hoped the next one wasn't that much of a headache.

[attr="class","box1"]Samuel might be a bit disappointed, though not exactly for reasons related to any failures. Ares walked on by, heading towards the office of the frozen little princess, only slowing for a moment as he watched a Patrat scurry by, the clanking of his popsicle of a tail making him snort before he carried on, noting that the fox was likely going to be a bit irritable during his little visit. That certainly didn't concern him too much though.
With that, he'd invite himself on in, not bothering with any feigned sense of decorum or manners. "I think you are slipping a bit, Sammy. Then again, if you guys could finish what you started, I suppose I'd be out of a job." He rolled his eyes at the thought as he made his way forward to stand at the opposite side of the table, facing the ice pokemon and not quite managing to suppress a snort at the poor guy's frustrated expression. "Wanna talk about it?" He was joking, of course, not really caring that much about any trouble the mafia might be in or risked being in because of some grunt's mistakes. It was why he only conducted business with them and wasn't directly involved.
All jokes aside though, he'd sit down with a sigh. "So, who's mess am I cleaning up this time?" Then, looking towards the door he'd just entered from, he'd smirk to himself. "Seems like anytime I come around, someone else is screwing up. Maybe if I stay here for another hour I can have a few more jobs lined up, huh?"

[attr="class","graves"] [attr="class","image"] [attr="class","lyrics"]Never be ashamed, my love, all hearts are open graves [attr="class","postcontent"] He may have been an ice type, but the voice that he heard made his fur prickle and stand on its end, at least around his collar. He let out another growl; blue eyes taking a look at an eyesore of black and orange. While he did not have a personal vendetta against the Houndoom species in general, this one, in particular, made his blood boil...if that was even possible. But perhaps that wasn't quite the right way to describe his feelings for him; it felt like a poor generalization of the weight on his chest, yet now was not the time to ponder on such things. He was at work, and he would think of work, no matter the unfortunate Pokemon he had to face.
"You might be right, but constantly killing off protege isn't good for work either." he would reply, disgruntedly used to the other's lack of manners. The ice type would furrow his brows at the mock invitation of talking about it, and while he was thinking about complaining about it a little more, the Houndoom's sneer shifted his frustration to a different target. "So as not to leave the question hanging, it is none of your concern, though you already knew that. If however, it turns out the problem produces a target, I may ask for your services."
That was, after all, the Houndoom's specialty. He witnessed it firsthand all those years ago, and he would be lying if it did not spark a murmur of fear to be so close to the flames. Lucky that for now, the other was more of an ally than a threat, but Samuel knew that it was naive of him to think that was set in stone. The Alolan Ninetales would shift through some papers on his desk; a bit difficult with paws, but it didn't take long for him to find what he was looking for: a contract file slightly buried under other things. "Preferably I would like for you to "clean up" clients instead of members, but I suppose it is something unavoidable." he would push the paper across the desk to where the Houndoom could see. "Loan collection. This Nuzleaf hasn't been paying his dues and also has been avoiding the mafia. I'll let you decide if you wish to ransack his house--" he would use a claw to delicately point at the printed font, "address is over here, or if you want to track him. List of recent sightings from the past week is over here."
He paused for a moment, trying to recall if any other details were attached to this contract. It was fairly large, he did recall, but nothing from an affluent family or anything, so it would not attract much attention. "I would want him alive. Dead targets can't pay, after all. Questions?"

[attr="class","box1"]Sure enough, ol' Samuel was just a little irritable this lovely afternoon. While he was sure the Alolan Ninetales was ready for this meeting of theirs to be over already, Ares was already enjoying himself. Fear could be tasty, no doubt, but anger? Well now that was exciting. But the secretary was still trying to maintain a sense of professionalism. Trying being the key word. It was a nice effort, but the Houndoom could see right through him. He'd seen Sam in a far different light before, after all. Saw him when he was most vulnerable.
Now though? The hound had to chuckle to himself at the very curt response. "Of course," he gave a shrug, not really taking the icy retort too personally. It wasn't like it was anything new. He was given as much information as required and that was that. Of course, in this particular instance, he knew it was just a little less of a business restriction and more along the lines of the Ninetales having a certain sort of bitterness towards him.
With that, it was time to give attention to the actual reason for him being here. As the paper was pushed towards him, he'd sit up a bit to look it over, see just what sort of mess he'd be dealing with this time. Didn't appear to be anything too exciting, but as long as the pay was good, that was all that really mattered to him. The fact he was given permission to 'confiscate' a few things was also a nice perk... even though truthfully he wouldn't have asked for permission at all if he found something he liked. He hummed in thought as he gave it some consideration as if he wouldn't just take the job anyway. It was very rare he refused a job, just more likely that he'd abandon it later if anything.
"Alive," he grunted with a hint of displeasure, but he understood the reasoning, even if it made the job a bit dull for his tastes. "How much does he owe?" Honestly, Ares didn't tend to ask too many questions, nothing too serious at least. He didn't need to know the reasons, just what was wanted and, more importantly, what he'd be getting for it. "If it's a lot, maybe he'll need a good, lasting reminder to not screw you guys." Just cause he needed to be left alive didn't necessarily mean he couldn't beat the shit out of him. Maybe leave him some nasty burns he'd never recover from. He was already plotting out how to go about this.
