Ghost of a Memory

• Originally under the designation 'Nine', Shinra was an orphan who had been adopted into a clan that walked that fine line between 'order' and 'chaos'. Never knowing her birth parents, she and nine other orphans; learned the ways of stealth, subterfuge, and assassination in order to serve the higher political powers that ruled Niphios.
  
• With the clan constantly moving and hiding themselves Nine and her fellow orphans had moved across the continent before their youngest had reached their third year with them. By that time, Nine had reach the age of fourteen where she evolved into a Dartrix after having a deadly encounter with the clan trying to scale the lower cliffs of the Frozen Rise. They lost Two and Four that day.
  
• By the age of sixteen she had begun to undertake her first missions without her mentor, Six being assigned as her partner as they ventured out with the Clan's confidence.
  
• Twenty years she spent with her partner living in the shadows, pulling jobs for the powerful while avoiding the implications of both the law and the underworld. During that time she evolved once more into her Decidueye form, and like last time; under duress while trying to escape a gang that had taken root in a certain area they had been tasked to trap. Thankfully both she and Six had escaped but not without them having to split up in order to lose their pursuers.
  
• Under the name 'Shinra', she found her first love at the age of thirty-seven whilst trying to relocate her partner or the Clan (with no luck). After tricking a kindhearted Braviary into caring for her after a nasty storm, she found herself unable to leave him. There was a period of self-denial and unwilling stubbornness that had her yearning for the adventurous yet free life he lived. So, while still tricking herself; she decided to prove to herself that this would only result in heartbreak or disaster.
  
• By forty, she had born her first child with her love shortly after he had joined the Guild to make a life for them. It was the first time she felt such peace or rather it was the first time she felt something other than life-bound camaraderie. Her small doubts were nothing in the face of the bliss she found in this newer, simpler life. By then she took her love's last name as a sort of reminiscent milestone.
  
• Three years later, Six had found her with a second child along the way. Heavily scarred from life but not alone, Shinra had found a new 'Nine' at their side- a younger generation no doubt. Caught between bliss and seeing them again and an indescribable torment, Shinra's peaceful fantasy had been shattered... but not from Six. The new Nine had tried to convince her to return to the Clan with her children, train them to be the next generation and that's where she found her true moral dilemma. Still wanting to be loyal to the Clan that raised her, to Six who would be punished if she refused; but unwilling to allow her children to suffer the life she had lived.
  
• In the end she could only refuse, no matter how much it hurt. It must have been desperation that drove her to do what she did next: convince Six to Outcast themselves alongside her. To be fair, she hadn't expected it to work; but it had and it led to the downfall of Shinra's peaceful life. The new-generation Nine escaped them which left Shinra and Six to escape before the full force of the Clan's hunters came for them. So she sought the only place she thought would be safe: Colbagne, the place where her love had currently been.
  
• They fled with Shinra's two children as fast as they could, using all the training they had learned over the years to escape. Both luck and misfortune looked their way as the Clan managed to catch up to them... right as Shinra's love had been on his way back home with his team in tow. Later she'd learned that he'd meant to simply stop in the area as his mission was close by but it was still a blessing to see the armored birds of his friends chase off their pursuers. Surprisingly without casualties on their side. So they escaped to the City where Shinra had soon after joined the Guild for both protection purposes and as a means of extra income for her family.
  
• From there, with her workaholic attitude and previous skills to back her; she rose in the ranks at a decent pace. Careful not to stand out too much while at the same time not looking incompetent, she'd eventually made her way into the ranks where she was appointed to the Royal Guard.
