For a bespoke tailor like Mingzhu, the Cycle of Life Ball was a terrific opportunity to advertise. If Moirae Boutique had been a little more established and managed to clothe a few people for the event, they wouldn't have needed to attend at all; the gossipping nobles would have done all the work for them. But it wasn't, and so they had the perfect excuse to go do some dancing themself. They flounced merrily across the dance floor, perfectly in their element among the glitz and glamor.

The plan was simple: show up decked out in some of their best work (a sheer layered aquamarine silk number, sprinkled with silver pearls that would glitter in the ballroom light when they twirled), mingle and dance, casually name-drop the boutique to anyone who expressed interest. And see, a voice calling out from behind them - it was already working! "Oh, yes!" They chirped as they turned around and oh my god it was the Princess.

They couldn't help but scuttle a couple steps backward in alarm. Why hadn't they seen her coming?! Maybe the big seashell collar was a mistake after all. Despite their shock they sized up her outfit almost automatically - hm, rather plain for a princess, wasn't it? - and idly wondered what it would look like with some classy embroidery and maybe a dozen more silk flowers. Wait, if they navigated this conversation properly maybe they could actually sell that to the Princess! Oh my god!!

Okay, time to calm down and do this properly. What level of formality was appropriate here? She was the future queen of Niphios, but she'd obviously decided to dress down for the event, so maybe she wanted to play it casual? They settled for a bow, as deep as they could make it without smushing their designer dress against the floor. "Princess Ying Yue! P-pardon your humble servant's rudeness." Gah, too much? "The ball is absolutely wonderful. I actually moved here from Zhi'an province not too long ago, so this is my first Nou Rega. I guess we have that in common, huh?" Aaaand now they were swinging way too far in the opposite direction. Hopefully the Princess would forgive their nerves.

Ying covered her mouth trying her best to hid a fit giggles. She didn't want to seem rude if that's what they thought but their reaction was just so...cute. Surely, something like that has happened before everyone being shocking to be notice but royalty but it never get old. Mainly because Ying never really thought of herself some of important until the arrangement. "I am glad, you are. There was a lot work put into it." All the happy faces, food, and good cheerful. She did want to see a thing face frowning at time like this.

So formal. From their attire to wording was so proper it cause a faint red hue to appear on her cheeks. Her parents and siblings would kill for less than correct title and the like. However see did seem to care it was even so embarrassing.

Wait- the Zhi'an province! The Mienshao's face turn from modest to utter astonishment. "Y-your from the Jiang Empire!" Her-Their home! It was her turn to back a step back as flooded of memories flood through her mind. Notice her flip up, the was a quick coughed before straightened herself up. Hopefully, no one else saw. "Forgive me, I hardly expected to see someone arrived from there. It took me by surprised." She look the Galvantula's in their eyes with soft expression.

The news brought some much needed relief. If they were are here no doubt more would follow suit. The feeling of complement was measure enough so the meinshao relaxed almost completely. "Princess Ying is good enough if you would. Indeed, This is my Nou Rega and by far it's wonderful than I would have never expected it to be." Everyone seems to happy so she guessed it was okay to be happy too. "Um...I do apologize but what is your actual name l. I would love to know I bet it's lovely."

It was a little jarring to see literal royalty have such a common reaction to being surprised, but princesses were just people with regular people reflexes too, Mingzhu supposed. They nodded and straightened up, trying not to make their relief too obvious. Short-name basis was a level of formality they were much more comfortable with.

"Ah - yes, Princess Ying! I'm Mingzhu - like the jewels? - of the Xian clan. We're tailors by trade. It's an honor to make your acquaintance." They idly wondered if the Princess would've heard of them. Their aunts never shut up about that time they made a robe for a prince, but the royal family probably had way too many one-time commissions to keep track of. "I've actually heard rumors that quite a few merchant clans are planning on expanding into Niphios, what with news of your highnesses' engagement. I'm sure you'll meet more of us before long!"

They paused. Was this the right time to bring it up? The Princess clearly just wanted to chat, and no doubt random merchants tried to suck up to her all the time... but the prospect of a project with a literal queen's budget spurred them on. "I'm on my own, though! I wanted to set up a little shop without the clan's influence. It's Moirae Boutique, just a little bit south of here."
