It was a Great Deed and job of Importance for a Great Ponyta of His stature to Stand here and Stare at this SINGULAR Spot for Fifteen minutes before Rotating To the Other Singular Spot! None are worthy enough to get by HIM the great Powerful Ponyta who had but worked hard to get here, stepping in to save but oh so many lives. Training by running courageously into a tree AGAIN and Again. Here he was standing proud in metal Armor uniform head held high the greatest Steed of his people standing proud to Protect this kingdom's lands.
While his oceanic marvelous eyes gazed back and forth closely into the trees, the grasses, and that random brick on the wall.. He swore that brick was up to no good, but it followed the Law it stayed where it was. His marvelous cotton candy fluffed purple mane moved along the strands of wind, catching moving it up and down much like the flags high above bearing the Royal Flag.
He trotted a little more to the right following rotation requirements, his body growing slightly anxious by just how quiet the castle was, almost always clinking of metal or large power waves would be echoing from the training grounds of the Guards off Watch Duty. Today... Just a calm relaxing sweet day, with the sun shining brightly.. The combee fluttering about in the royal garden, with permits of course. It was just. Calm Quiet. And Long.

So...this city was going to be her home for the foreseeable future, it seemed. She was, of course, overjoyed at her acceptance into the explorers guild, and was determined to prove her worth to them--that began with familiarizing herself with the city. What she hadn't anticipated was the sprawl of it. How a place could be so big, yet so claustrophobic, was beyond her. The streets could be broad boulevards, or narrow alleys crushed between the buildings. In her old clan's territory, the hills rolled forever onwards under a blue sky, with only the distant, jagged peaks of the mountains to break the infinite expanse. They spent their lives outside, only retreating into their earthen dens when inclement weather threatened. She wasn't accustomed to this geometric fortress of stone and timber, where the sky was obscured and distant. There was something new around every corner. Foreign sounds, smells, and sights crowded her senses, all of them demanding her attention, until she found herself becoming overwhelmed. Despite the crowds of Pokemon around her, she was alone, and an instinctual urge to hide herself from potential danger was beginning to grow in her mind. The song of the city became a cacophony, the smells overpowering and pungent. Where was she?? What street was this?? Where was the guildhall??
It was the scent of flowers and foliage that pulled her out of her spiral of panic. There was something familiar, conjuring memories of fields of wildflowers that she played in as a pup alongside her siblings. They would gambol among the spring growth, wrestling and pouncing eachother, chasing eachother about in wild games and nipping at eachothers heels. The meadows always seemed a little worse for wear after those days, with grass trampled and even scorched in places, but she had never given it much thought as a child. Following the scent and the soothing memories it produced, she trotted through the streets, oblivious to the way the surrounding buildings were becoming bigger, more ornate. The scruffy Houndoom was even more out of place here, but the strange looks of other strollers were missed as she followed the smell until her progress was suddenly stifled by a high brick wall. It was a clear sign to keep out, but she was desperate for a little respite from the endless stimuli of the city streets. She bunched her legs beneath her, then leaped upwards, her forepaws catching on the top of the wall. Scrabbling her hind claws against the stone for purchase, she hauled herself up and over, dropping into in an enclosed green world.
Perfectly-manicured flower bushes lined the pebbled paths, with the occasional fountain or marble statue adding to the scenery. Here, the chaos of the city seemed to dim, and Summer breathed a sigh of relief, her tensed form beginning to relax. This was a little more familiar, albeit a very tamed version of the meadows she was used to. She had wandered up to one of the flowerbeds and begun to sniff the delicate blooms when the sharp rapport of hoof striking stone made her jump and look up. Suddenly feeling guilty, she leaped into a nearby bush, obscuring herself among the leaves and branches and peering outwards. A quadrupedal figure soon came into view, and a rather odd one at that. He bore a passing resemblance to the Ponyta that galloped across the plains, but where they bore manes and tails of fire, this fellow seemed to instead have an abundance of fluffy, multicolored hair, which his metal armor did little to restrain despite its best efforts. She watched as he marched stiffly up the path, head held high, then turned and marched back the way he had come. This was repeated several times over, prompting the Houndoom to cock her head in puzzlement. What was he doing...? Well, at any rate, he didn't look very dangerous, even with the armor he wore, and truth be told, Summer had never been good at curbing her curiosity. On his next pass by the bushes, he would find himself face-to-face with a Houndoom's head and shoulders emerging from the foliage, regarding him curiously. "What are you doing?"

Yes. All is Clear. Next Section. His eyes did a double scan for all who Dared approach the Royal's Garden. Nothing out of ordinary blossoming of Color yellow, Red, white in a magnificent Collide. Ahh if only his sister been more tamed to his commands, she'd perhaps been a lovely Ponyta watering these lovely flowers, even with permission to Pluck one! Ha! Merchant! Ha! Why did she not listen to him of such a dangerous job?
Turning his head wide, hooves clopping on the cobbled path, he made it back toward the other side. When a sudden ruffle caught his attention, nostrils flaring up as something Rugged and Hideous was popping out. AH! A WEASEL OF DESTRUCTION! Jumping Back he prepared an attack when the Cuffed Dirty Heathen smiled asking what he was doing. This.. Heathen How Dare She. She. Damn, clueless Girls, why must they always go places no allowed. He huffed standing up taller, "Guarding this Garden, as the Status States!" He raised his chest higher making his front end look slightly larger and tougher, his mane moving dramatically as he flipped the hair to make it shinier and super fluffier.
Then reaching air deep to the pits of his lung spoke again in that deep male voice he seemed to carry, "Why is one of your Status Here within the Royal Garden? His Majesty Will not be Pleased." Who was this heathen? He did not recognize them, perhaps a thief? After the royal jewels? Was this a distraction, where was that Guard's Bell to ring.. Alert the castle of an attack. Gather Intel First, then ring the Bell Of Alertness!

Oops. She hadn't meant to startle the diminutive horse. Blinking in surprise, she dropped her head to his level as he straightened up and snorted irately, retorting that he was protecting these gardens. He was doing a ferocious job of attempting to look intimidating. And indeed, the way the glint of his armor matched the steely glint in his dark eyes, he might have succeeded. If not for the fact that he was roughly half her size. Still, no need to antagonize--she didn't want to meet the business end of that sharp little horn.
Her apologetic smile slipped away, however, as he demanded to know why one of her "status" was here, further adding that a "Majesty" would not be pleased. Who...? Oh, right. They had a King here, not a chief. When she had first heard of such a title, she had been puzzled to learn that a king simply inherited his title, rather than fight for it. How could they know they were being lead by the strongest and most capable member of the group then, if their leader was simply born into the role? Some aspects of "civilized" life, she supposed she would never understand. "I'm sorry," she said, stepping out of the bushes and sitting down on the path before him, "it was just...so loud out there. And so many Pokemon and so many smells. I felt like I was going to go crazy if I didn't get a moment of peace." In time, she hoped she would acclimate as everyone else seemed to do--she knew she couldn't just run off into someone else's territory like this.
Though she kept her attention on the Ponyta, she couldn't stop her eyes from roaming about the garden once more. "This is a lovely place--do you tend it yourself?"

The she-wolf seemed to hold that creepy over the top joyful smile, he could only snort at it slowly slipped away as it dawned her the Glorious Presence she was standing in front of in. Stunned by His greatness, she stuttered an apology, before completely exposing herself silly pack, bodily bones, and all. Why it was rather aggravating how much larger she appeared, truly a criminal up to no good. No, no this was a Woman why would such a specimen of such gender be a criminal? When they are but best to stay home tend to the young, care for others? They have no time for such ridiculous criminal actions! Tis, he listened to her open-eared, Yes.. That was it clearly, she simply wandered off exploring the smells.
His head turned to look at the roses, yes they do smell wondrous, Hence why it was His Great Sovereign to Guard them with his life from such Heathens! Should one of their filthy paws was to dirty a rose, it'd surely die. It was while looking at those lovely Arceus Gift being tended to by the Combree did her last words strike him. Te-te-TENDING! His pale white rose Face Flushed as Pink as a Blushed Rose, "Te-te-TEND! I AM No Mere Gardener!"
He snorted breath extremely heavy and OH! So! Clearly forced before he stepped forward not even caring how much taller she did in comparison to his body. His Neck forcing itself to rise, Chin seeming to grow pointer almost forced to make him look a centimeter taller. "I AM a Grand Royal Guard Of High Status, Making Sure ALL Who do Not hold Royal Permits to GARDENER STATUS are not Trespassing! Such AS YOURSELF, Intruder." He snorted Stomping his right hoof thickly, moving the gravel just a little.

He seemed to puff up with pride until she asked if he was the one who had been caring for the garden. That, apparently, was the one thing to say. Pride turned to shock, and she could only scoot back as he sputtered indignantly. No, he insisted, he was no gardener, but a guard, one whose job it was to keep the riffraff out of this place. And she, apparently, was such riffraff.
Well, he wasn't exactly wrong. Since setting foot in this city she had immediately been aware of the differences between herself and the townsfolk, not just in garb, but bearing as well. The Pokemon of the wilderness often looked down upon the more civilized folk, and she wasn't surprised to see that it went both ways.
The polite, and likely smart, thing to do would be to excuse herself and leave, she was was violating someone else's territory, after all. Her pack would attack those who strayed over their borders. But such things were always done with the strength of numbers behind them, you couldn't stage an ambush on your own. And here was a blustering fellow all by himself, demanding she remove herself from the premises.
She could respect that grit. But some small part of her still felt like messing with the holier-than-thou horse.
"If you're guarding this place," she mused, sitting back, "wouldn't it be better to be patrolling the border, rather than walking through the midst of it? So you could spot, ah, intruders before they actually get inside?"

Why he probably looked so scared she was stunned by his brilliance too scared to move. This is why the Wolf-like creature didn't just walk right on out of that Entrance were she came from. Yes, this was the clear solution, just too bad her face wasn't exactly inviting to this Little lie he told himself. Oh no, it grew much darker dire worst. This Weasel, just What Was its Problem?! He was trying to save her here! Well from Himself and ARREST, what woman needed to be trapped in the cells of the tower? Just for simpleton's actions of trespassing?
Then she began to speak in an odd peculiar tone he didn't quite recognize from others. Guarding? yes, that he was. He did after all just stated the information, was she dense of some sort? Parents dropped her as a pup? She went on, even going so far as to sit on the GROUND... Planting it Right on there... Pointing out the Flaw of his formation, HIS FORMATION. What. It. How. No! he wasn't wrong! His tough stance faltered face flushing again, a small neigh of despair escaping him as he stepped back once more. He.. he... was following protocol.. the rules.. The mission, the commands. he-he was doing his job right. Right? RIGHT?!
His head looked around the garden, ma-ma-maybe he was supposed to stand by the entrance? no.. that'd leave the back open for sneak ins.. Right? right? "I-I... Course' not! If that was the case the-the-they could sneak in from the sides. Madam, if you weren't Sneaking past the guard, why be in the shrubbery of roses? Huh? I but Caught you, Clearly.. The system isn't broken." Clearly his orders were not Inaccurate.. He wasn't wrong! He was the Hero, couldn't be wrong! It was clear from his pitch rising in his voice, and shuffling of his hooves and tail.. That she struck a nerve and it was greatly bothering him, after all. Did the Perfect Guard screw up? He was still considered young compared to the older others, but.. still.. di-di-did he do something wrong?

Oh no.
Her intention had simply been to ruffle his feathers a bit before leaving. Instead, it looked like her pointed question had inadvertently cracked what had simply been a facade of confidence, and now the poor guy looked like he was about to cry. Even when he insisted that he was doing his job correctly, his bluster had become much more defensive. The Houndoom's desire for mischief was immediately replaced by regret. "Hey now," she insisted, crouching down to put herself below his eye level, a supplicative motion, "you're right, you're right. Better to position yourself where you can see oncomers from any direction, rather than just stick to one entrance. And hey--challenging an intruder all on your own? That takes guts too."
Hopefully, his ego wasn't too badly bruised by this perceived failure. She truly hadn't been trying to upset him. "For what it's worth, though," she added, regarding him, "I wasn't trying to sneak in. Well, not actively, anyway. I'm...still getting used to living in a city of this size. I felt like I was going to lose it if I didn't get a moment of peace before trying to find my way back to the guild hall." Speaking of. She rose to her feet, shaking the dust off her pelt. "I should probably get back there, as a matter of fact. I don't suppose you would mind showing me the way out?" She grinned. "Or I could just jump the wall again, if you're too busy keeping a lookout."

He had been a bit flustered to notice how she lowered herself to be at more of his level, or rather attempting to make him feel a smidgen better. But as her words came out in an apologetic manner did he finally calm down and listened to her closer. Yes, he had been right! All along, see she was the buffooon here. As a fully trained well-practiced creature of the Kingdom it was only fair this will happen. He cleared his throat, body shifting slightly in a much more positive demeanor as she continued on about not trying to sneak in and getting used to the city.
His ears flickered at the sound or rather the idea that she was indeed a bumpkin, the traveling kind that had but come here... Why she continued on was part of the Guild! Of all things, he had but pulled the exact stunt in his youngin' days, technically still young but who was really counting. He gave a slight horse-like snort of agreement about showing her the way out, only releasing a small neigh at the idea of jumping the wall. "No, no.. No need for that! After all you were merely exploring losing track of your placement in this city. I will show you the way!"
He motioned with his head for her to follow, before slowly trotting forward leading the way for them. His tail fluffy as it was waved slightly, almost a sign of his deeper inner thoughts. "A young madam such as yourself, out from the country-side, coming here to be a part of the guild? Why... My dear you must hold large amount of courage, yourself as well! Tell me, are you sure you can handle the many tasks Guildsman are to take? Sacrifice your life for others protection?"

[attr="class","info-base"][googlefont="Cinzel"] The darkest hour is lonely, but leads you to the day Press on, the light is on its way Her bid to soothe his bruised pride seemed to be successful. Almost immediately, he was perking up again, his plush, multicolored mane practically fluffing back up into place. Inwardly, Summer was relieved that she hadn't upset him too badly--he had only been doing his job when he challenged her. "I'd appreciate that," she said with a nod as he offered to show her to proper exit to the gardens, and the lanky Houndoom rose up to follow him, her claws tapping a quieter rhythm behind his hoofsteps.
The initial friction between them seemed to have dissipated, which she was glad for, he seemed like a nice fellow. She was still caught off-guard when he commended her for choosing to join the guild, however, even going so far as to call her courageous. "Ah, geeze..." she mumbled, tilting her face way as a slight heat rose in her cheeks. "I-I don't know about courage, I just felt like it was the right thing to do, you know? I wanted to help people, and that's what they do." She was hesitant to explain why that was, though--nobody in Colbagne would know about her origins, if she could help it. This was a new life for her.
When he asked if she thought she was up to the challenge, though, she nodded definitively. "I hope I am, anyway. I promised the guildmaster I would give it my all. He seems like a good person, I wouldn't mind following a leader like that." Lavender Delacroix was certainly a far cry from her brother, at least, who had won his position through battle and kept it in much the same way. For Houndoom, that was normal--the strong lead, the rest followed. It was only until she had been able to see things from the outside that she realized there were other ways of earning respect besides beating it out of others. She looked back to Nick, cocking her head. "Have you had dealings with the guild yourself? You certainly seem to hold them in high regard."
@gingerfrost Apologies for the wait! Also, I'm experimenting with a new table, if the gif is distracting or annoying at all lemme know.

The journey to the gate was unfortunately too short for his liking, what with this new individual to speak with. A new hope for the future of the kingdom, that could very well be his Ally Knight one day. She answered all his questions, each one he gave a slight nod, with a slight hmph of agreement and breath. She did cock her head began asking about dealings with the guild. He gave a slight haughty laugh raising himself, attempting once more to look taller than the houndoom, "Why Yes. I was a member of the Guild just a bit ago Myself! You go on enough quests, and earn yourself some credit of Heroic Honor Duties. You too could become a Guard such as Myself! Just focus on your training, improve lives, and I will see you once more. Perhaps one day we can work together? Hmm?" He gave a gentle chuckle, "I look forward to see your potential in action."
He gave a slight pause and stomp, when they reached the main entrance. "Unfortunately this is where I must stop, as this is where we must split. I am but highly intrigued to watch your progress young Pup."
